The communication gap
Machines could arrive at the shop without advance communication from sales. Service lacked context about the work and its priority, while salespeople had to keep checking to find out when a job was complete.
My approach
I identified the need for clear, concise information passing between departments. Sales needed an easy tool they could use wherever they were working, so I built a mobile Power Apps application for submitting shop service requests.
Designed around the existing process
The app routes each request to the service shop by email and also notifies sales support, keeping them informed. Service can use the request information within its established workflow, without changing how the shop handles its work. When the service request is complete, the system automatically notifies the salesperson.
Business value
The solution connects the request and completion stages of the sales-to-service handoff. It gives the shop the information submitted by sales, keeps sales support in the loop and sends completion updates directly to the salesperson, addressing the need for repeated status checks.
From request to completion
Sales submits a mobile request. Service and sales support receive notifications. Service follows its existing process. Completion triggers an automatic update to sales.
